    Fantastic! windows promted me to update media player to 11, although as the validation process failed i was unable to revert back to v.10. So glad i found this page! one note though, at step 5, dont double click "wmp11.exe", right click it and extract the files.

    first off thanks for putting this information out there for the masses, BUT, i followed your directions and when i try to play a movie or open wmp it still goes to the damn validation screen, wtf yo ? somone please help

    This seems like a scam by those microsoft people.
    It doesn't work and most conveniently, it disables Media player 10. Which now needs validation to be downloaded from microsoft so you can't even rollback.

    USE THIS CRACK AND YOU LOSE BOTH MEDIA PLAYER 10 AND DON'T GET MEDIA PLAYER 11.

    Looks like a deliberate scam by someone to remove media player and force you to validate....SCAM SCAM SCAM

    Worked the first time on 12/9/06 but I had issues with a conflict with “V Cast”. Tried to uninstall and reload, now I am asked for validation on WM11 start up?

    I had similar problems not being able to validate. The solution is unbelievably simple. Once it has been installed go to the Windows Media Player folder in Program Files and delete the file LegitLibM.dll. Then open media player as you would have before Media Player 11 screwed it all up. It should then validate.

    I WOULD ADD STEP 7:Once it has been installed go to the Windows Media Player folder in Program Files and delete the file LegitLibM.dll. When asked for validation click "continue" then it will validate!!!

    Just didn't trust going further after the "You may be a victim of counterfit blaahh" you're right....just click validate and, viola!

    I knew one of the many genuises out there would rescue us all from M$, for they are smarter than any of the staff that works there! ;)

    HA just tried and it works 100% just do it like it sais and that all foks i saw i post that when you restart PC WMP11 asks you validation f**k this!!!!! i restared my PC about 10 times and nothing it works 100% like i said big thx for this. BTW IE7 rocks too ;)

    But :( i reinstall window , and try to do as my memory, but i forgot to do step 6 and run wmd....
    omg validation require and i failed on trying to roll back...

    how do we get the option for playing all music in the library...like in WMP10 i used to click on the button in the lower right corner and then click on ALL MUSIC...automatically there was a playlist with all the music in it...but now there is no option like that

    Hey guys...this works for sure. The only other step in addition to above is....instead of running the setup wizard that u downloaded...go to Programs>Windows Media Player.......it automatically takes u to WMP 11. Enjoy!

    Ok. I was reading some comments and I tried doing this too. It also said that I didn't have a genuine version but I accidently got it to work! So for those who says you still require validation read this and try it out.

    Upon installing, I believe my first mistake was not restarting my computer after running step 3.
    It doesn't ask you to restart your computer, but I "should" restart it. Anyway, I didn't restart until the last step and as I tried to run it it asks to validate and denied me.

    As most posters says, you cannot remove the application anymore, even from the add/remove program. So what I did was just deleted the contents inside the folder. (C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player)

    I deleted everything inside the folder(not the folder itself) and I tried to run the program anyway.(From the shortcut on my Desktop/Taskbar)

    It asked for validation again as if the program was still there. I clicked validate and it went through and ran a program called "migrate.exe." The program was actually inside the Windows Media Player folder. I deleted anyway even though I saw it and it still ran so it surprised me. Anyway, my Windows Media Player 11 works now. So for those who still want to try a solution, try deleting the contents inside the folder and running and validating the program.

    first disconnect your internet connection. run the wmfdist11.exe file. then delete all the files in the folder except wmp11.exe. run the file. if nothing happens, open an mp3 file using Windows media player. go through the installation process and enjoy.
