65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net
65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
ipconfig /flushdns
In that way a new ip is found for thoose two names, and normally it is a working one comming up.
And an added bonus, you dont have to fix the fix.

and you should be very carefull about this cuz if you do mistake you windows will crash just follow the instruction
go to run
type this command regedit.exe
then go to the following linkHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\Policies and delete the last word which is policy then restart your computer it should work fine

Save it and restart msn
Please do remember to remove these lines when the msn service gets back to normal.

This solution didn't work for me :(
Live Messenger works for a few days, then it stops. MSN claim "all systems are stable and running". I can also sign in using webmessenger, so I know it's not a problem with my account.
The problem just seems to come and go of its own accord without any intervention on my part, I haven't changed any settings (including firewall settings) or anything, I can't see any logic in it!!
Somebody out there PLEASE PLEASE help!! I emigrated to NZ recently and messenger is so important to keep in touch with friends and family back home.... I'm starting to feel lonely :( Maybe I should go out and make new friends lol
